I was wondering about how wonderful it would be for those of us still putting on the witness robes but wanting to leave knew other people in our same situation. I think if you had even 1 friend in the hall you knew didn't want to be JW it'd be a lot easier for both of you to leave. Wouldn't it be great if there was a secret website you could go to and maybe network with other JWs on the way out? Of course the major problem I see with this is elders finding out and people getting "outed" before they're ready. You'd see a lot of "spy" witnesses trying to infiltrate and find out who in their hall is a doubter. It'd be tough if not impossible to keep them out, so do you think this would even be possible?
Internal JW Support Group - is it even possible?

Let me respond to the inevitable "That's what JWD is for! lol"
JWD is great but also quite anonymous. I was thinking more of a place where you could enter your specific congregation and possibly find others in your hall or nearby halls. -

It would be great to have a DB where one could register their particulars - but I don't see any way that it could be made safe.
Secret handshake, 'friend of Bill's,' etc.,are too risky and easily blown. See "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" for a complete scenario.

We already have enough "Revenge of the Nerds" stunt doubles checking out JWD to sleuth out some of us. Don't need to give them more things to check.

just go to ex-jw meet-ups. You will run into ones you never thought you'd see there. There is one coming up on Aug 4 in LA (long Beach.) email me if you are out this way and want to go.

There aren't so many meetups near where I live: West Michigan. The ex-witnesses here tend to be much older than me and I think I'd be a little creeped out. No offense!

No, it is not possible - in fact, it's a downright silly idea. Having an internal JW support group is a recipe for disaster - all you would need is just one wavering person to turn everyone else in and it'd be over. Also, how would you attract participants? Advertise? phone number? You'd run the risk of 'good-standing' JWs infiltrating the group just to find out who's there.

Hey there B_Deserter,
It's a nice fantasy, but sadly, that's all it can be.
I've fantasized here before that I wish I could have a pair of X-ray glasses that would tell me who in the K Hall or Assemblies thinks it's a crock of shite. A fantasy it will have to remain.
