The Gap with Jw's is you are either a JW or not.

Do you see, since leaving the org a wider gap

    between the educated and not

    money and not

    different races

the way someone looks as opposed to their heart?

    I see less gaps now.

When I was a JW, if I would see myself now,

I probably would have smirked and thought

    "Im better than that guy"

    We are all the same.

i think I feel the education gap more.

Society seems to put alot of emphasis on college education and can discount some great input from experianced people.

Not that I am saying the society is doing something wonderful by dismissing education, but I was oblivious to the "education gap" as a witness.

Purps (may I call you that?)

I think when we were witnesses, the only folks we really surrounded ourselves with were other witnesses. Sure, we had some contact with worldly people, but we put them outside our little box and didn't think much about them, or didn't tend to compare ourselves with them. So, since most witnesses are not the best educated, we didn't see the gap, because there wasn't one between us and those we hung out with. We were all the same (just the way the borg likes it.)

Outside, in the real world, the gap is painfully apparent. That's why so many of us went to college after leaving the org. Our inadequacies in education bothered us probably more so than being less educated would have if we had never known JW ways.

But just as IP_SEC pointed out: We are all the same. I've met so many different kinds of people since leaving the witnesses and I see more likenesses than real differences. The gaps are there, for sure. You can't deny that. But, being ex-JWs, they just seem wider in scope than they really are.

The WTB&TS is doing its members a tremendous disservice by discouraging higher education. It not only hurts them financially over the long haul, but psychologically as well. You have to keep up with the norms. 50 years ago, a high school drop-out was not that big a deal. Today, not getting more than a HS education is considered unusual. THEY BETTER WAKE UP AND SMELL THE COFFEE ON THIS ONE.

I dont see any gaps. Were all just people. I work in a jail. And work out in a gym here in Florida. I've seen the rich and famous and powerful and weak and low in both places. Everybody puts their pants on one leg at a time.
