The Governing Body's Lackluster Zeal

In the past, the Watchtower put forth real effort to defend its beliefs and accomplishments such as

the New World Translation. Now, with the latest KM, they simply confirm that they have left the field:

cut and paste articles, fewer magazines to publish, and virtually no response to the myriad of

technical challenges that appear on the internet almost daily. How can we avoid the conclusion that

these men are just burned out, lazy, or well knowledgeable that their teachings are bogus - while

    they "run out the clock".

I wouldn't worry about the counsel to avoid independent study. Most Witnesses are eagerly ignorant

and lacking in thinking ability. The few the article applies to are already 'half drifted away' by reason

of their impetus to research and actually think.

I agree. Hopefully those who do drift away do it for reasons of sanity, freedom, and for the society's lack concern about the masses intellectual well being.

It seems to me that the longer a liar talks, the more likely he is to be caught in those lies. I remember going to assemblies growing up and there would be a new release 2-3 days out of the 4 day convention. Now they get one small paperback book a year. Nothing new comes out of the Watchtower or Awake.

Do they think that they've said enough? Are they comfortable with their current beliefs? Or are they putting out less information to avoid embarrassment from changing policies?

I can see what they're trying to do, but given the frequency of the meetings, without new subjects for study, it is already starting to bore their membership. They would do well to cut out the book study to reduce the boredom.

    Right!

I posted this in one of the other threads. I see this one of a continuing series of steps to "draw a line in the sand". They appear to prefer a smaller, but more fiercely loyal (and brain-dead) following, rather than going the "mainstram" route, as some have speculated. Better to have 4 or 5 million who will (perhaps literally) die for the organization than 7 or 8 million who are only lukewarm, seems to be their thinking.

Articles such as this one (9/07 KM) seem to be for the purpose of pushing off fence-sitters, drifter, faders, and any heretofore loyal ones who had some hope of reform or at least an easing of the pressure.

Anyone who presents "non-endorsed" information to expose one of the non-biblical (or anti-biblical) doctrines of the Society can now be painted with the broad brush of being "disloyal to the written direction of the slave".

The "truth" isn't about truth or accuracy. It's about habit and tradition, not logic, as with many

religions. Catholics supposed believe in crackers that magically turn into Jesus bits , Mormons

wear special underwear and Muslims approach psychosis.

Frankly, I have long believed that being a faithful Witness often involves a specific mental illness,

namely obsessive-compulsive disorder. You 'have to' attend. You 'have to' put in hours. It starts to

    resemble the hit show "Monk"!

However, the wonderful thing is that lack of cash flow is breaking down Watchtower traditions and

subculture! No more subscriptions. Shorter meetings. Watchtower Farm gets sold. Bethelites

    get laid off.

Eventually, they will find that nothing remains but worn out, imaginary beliefs - and a world that

    has passed them by.

Sir, their history has always been that they prefer smaller zealots than a large number of wishy-washy types.

While the organization stills grows, at least on paper, some of us may have missed the fact that

part of the organization is already dead - having been roundly defeated.

When the internet was new, sites like this one were filled with lengthy debates about every aspect

of Witness life and doctrine. Watchtower apologists would show up every day and fight.

Well, the fight is over. The Watchtower lost. "Loyal" sites - what few there are - now simply

control discussions and exclude not only what is contrary ,but now even depth of discussion,

as per the Society's wishes expressed in this KM.

How long can they go on in running an international organization that daily depends upon enforcing

child like dependence and thinking among adults? While the rest of the world prizes intelligence

and productivity, in the Watchtower we find the opposite trend, in both statistics and teaching.

There is a glib phrase, "too stupid to live". Sadly, we will now witness an international experiment

to see how true that saying is.

Couldnt disagree more .Membership NUMBERS have always been important..."as the grains of sand that no man was able to count"...paraphrasing....are how many JWs they want. AT 20 000 000 might be a good number for the start of the great trib..... It may be from time to time they do some house cleaning but they must already know the smell of their own S*** BECAUSE this is what they feel the need to do. IMHO
