There are so many wonderful podcasts for downloading and listening on the go!

I try to sample new ones every chance I get.

Think how much time we simply waste when sitting in traffic or waiting on line or sitting in the doctor's office.

I now carry my mp3 player with me everywhere and listen to things which can edify, enlighten, entertain and fill those empty moments with something special.

Here are a few Podcasts I really enjoy

1.NOWHERE IN MULBERRY (I must admit my son does this one) Four friends from different viewpoints discuss entertainment, TV, Movies, Dvd releases and the news.

2.HARDCORE HISTORY Like having your favorite professor sit down and tell you the most interesting things you never knew!

3.HOLLYWOOD SALOON Intelligent fans giving an informed discussion of every aspect of the movies.

4.SKEPTICALITY The official podcast of Skeptic magazine. Interviews, news tidbits which involve our favorite subjects, faith, god, miracles, Esp, paranormal claims, crop circles, UFO-ology, from a rational perspective

5.MOVIES YOU SHOULD SEE 5 Brits discussing films in depth that nobody should fail to view. I love this podcast!

    I'll stop there.

DOWNLOAD EPISODE Hollywood Saloon STYLE - Film Grammar at the Movies

In the beginning there was only a single shot and take. Then came the first cut, followed by the close-up, the dissolve, the dolly, the crane, split-screens, rapid-editing and expressionistic camera angles. In a word, style was created. Jump forward 100 years and the remains of these attention grabbing devices are used more than ever in commercials, music videos and feature films. From Griffith to Scorsese -- John and Andy chart the cinematic path of infusing a signature motif into motion pictures.

I'm very familiar with THIS AMERICAN LIFE. I agree. Topnotch. (I even own the album they put out.)

I'll give Radiolab a shot. Thanks for the head's up.

This American Life is my favorite hour of weekly "entertainment" (I quote because it does so much more for me than entertain), bar none. Better than any TV program (and I like TV), better than any video game (and I REALLY like video games).

I like them so much I actually became a WBEZ contributing member even though I live thousands of miles away from Chicago.

Thanks Terry! I was thinking about this myself and was looking for recommendations. I'll give the ones you suggested a shot. I wholeheartedly agree with "This American Life" and "Radiolab".

Some of my other favorites are:
    1. NPR's "Wait Wait ... Don't Tell Me!" weekly news quiz.
    2. KCRW's "Le Show" hosted by Harry Shearer.
    3. Just Vocabulary, easiest way to improve your vocabulary by learning 2 words a day.
    4. Grammar Girl's Quick and Dirty Tips for Better Writing, I need all the help I can get with my writing skills.
    5. Onion Radio News

I also use the ITunes application quite a bit to search and download podcasts.

The Presiden'ts Weekly Radio Address can be pretty funny sometimes. It's usually 1 to 4 minutes long. I haven't listened to it for a while though.
