Information Processing

Who processes info for you? W the flow of information through newspapers, tv, radio and, last but not least, the internet, information has become a veritable flood. Through the internet, you can learn about almost anything. There is also a lot of crap and cleverly disguised mind manipulation available on it, like on tv.

However, the processing of the info is generally part and parcel w the info itself. People are eager to process it for you. The way information is processed is very important. What i used to do, is seek out differing analyses of the same info. Basically, i processed the processes, a kind of reprocessing process. Heh. Later on, i drastically cut down on my information intake and did my own processing (i had been a reading machine, for decades, almost as much as terry ).

Are you able to process on the run, or do you have to stop the flow in order to process it?

I've recently started wondering about the information processing you're talking about. I've been reading "Manufacturing Consent". Scary but logical stuff. You always have to dial back stuff like that a few degrees, but the points are still valid.

I'm so early in the process, I don't know what to do in order to actually have a clue about what's going on. Reading from various types of sources seems like a reasonable idea.

Noam chomsky and his study of linguistics is an excellent start or continuation of learning.

    Agreed, Satanus.

Chomsky has some interesting things to say about linguistics.

Since very few people can read greek or hebrew, to an extent, those who have bible based beliefs are relying on translaters to process the bible texts for them. The best that they can do is compare the different translations and commentaries.

For convenience sake I used to process on the run. Nowadays I tend to have to stop the flow to process. I find going back and re-checking, maybe the next day sometimes, gives me a different understanding. Its time consuming but worth it.

Also I find looking at a subject from different angles and comparing with what others have written helps too. Mental gymnastics - lol
