To those who are interested. Following are the methods of The Watchtower's Writing Department / Society.

Which of the six methods of argumentation do you think the society uses?

    Honest or Dishonest???

    Principled or Unprincipled???

    Geniune or Artificial???

Other Methods... Mere assertions, one-sided presentations where contrary evidence is suppressed or ignored.

Use of ridicule toward those taking a contrary view. Pontificating on the basis of claimed superior wisdom or superior authority.

Others include...AD Hominem, an argument which consists of an attack on the person argued against, instead of on his argument.

Provincialism, that is appealing to the tendency to identify closely with the thinking, belief, prejudices, bias or ignorance of a particular group and to see things largely from the standpoint of the in group versus the out group. Provincialism often results in a false conception of the importance and moral quality of ones own group. In it's extreme forms the fallacy of loyalty in the face of great contrary evidence because of provincial loyalty.

More to come in the response post.

    CIRCULAR REASONING

Other Methods...Strawman, misrepresentation of opposing arguments, as by the use of a strawman in the place of the real point at issue.

Circular Reasoning, which an unproved premise is used as the starting point of an argument that proceeds to build on the premise rather than on established fact.

False Dilemma, creation of a false dilemma which makes it appear that there are only two choices, the one being argued for and another that is usually undesirable, when in fact there may be several choices, several alternatives.

Red Herring, dragging a red herring over the trail of an argument, that is bringing in some point that is not rellevent to the discussion and which only serves to divert the readers attention from the weaknesses in the argument.

Still other methods used by the writing department.

Smoke Screen, what is the real issue, if it is not the real issue, then it is a smoke screen.

Here is a good one! Poisoning The Well...Tactic in which an effort is made to discredit the source so as to make it appear that any evidence or argument from that source is not worthy of serious consideration.

Now notice this: The Jan 15, 1991 Watchtower on page 10 thru 15, that's six pages. They quote from 15 different sources in support of their argument, their position, all 15 sources that they quote from are from ... CHRISTENDOM??? Go figure. Does anyone in the writing department do any real proof-reading?

All you newbie's should print this out and go over it again, it will help you to see how dishonest The Watchtower is now and has been over the years to all of us.

The Watchtower Society has to have some intelligence included in their drivel, how else are they going to bait the hook?

Circular reasoning is a big one. A good example is the doctrine of Jephthah's daughter. It's quite clear that she was burned alive, but since this is an uncomfortable thought for many Bible readers, the witnesses argue that he was really sending her to the temple. Their reasoning: "Jephthah knew the law and therefore couldn't have done such a thing." That's it. That is their argument. In other words: "this scripture goes against our pre-determined conclusion, therefore, it means what our pre-determined conclusion says it means."
