I've noticed a few press articles recently about the spread of these zones where door knockers are being clamped down on, mainly to prevent old ladies having their life savings taken off them by unscrupulous tradesmen.

The overall reaction has been very positive with Local Authorities reporting significant decreases in doorstep crimes.

A poster on the above article wondered if he could start getting JW's arrested? Google 'Jehovah no cold calling zone' and you can see the rest.

Have any active JW's come across this in their area and how is it being handled?

Yes i posted about this yesterday. My mum heard it in the radio news yesterday and religious callers were mentioned. Apparently the trial areas were successful and the government would like to see this in place all over. It would probably please the jws though, it would be seen as a sign of turning against religion in the last days lol!

    Persecution!!! Persecution!!!

It would be interesting to know whether the WTBTS is going to recommend that JWs ignore these restrictions and continue 'their lifesaving work' regardless, therefore risking arrest and more crys of 'persecutions'! I'd love to hear of a few ASBO's being handed out to JWs who continue in this anti social behaviour. Then, when they are tagged and have evening curfews imposed on them, they can be furthur arrested when attending meetings in the evening (simply obeying Jehovah's commands, afterall) and cry persecution even louder!

Otherwise, they will just have to start the dreaded 'street work' which I know the JWs in our area absolutely HATE to do and rarely participate in!

I would like to see this happen in the U.S. also. In time, it may.

Sadly, most people calling at your door are a nuisance. They are either trying to sell something or trying to get something. It is also true that the elderly are targeted for every scheme imaginable and need to be protected. In some cases, people who come to your door are downright deadly like the story in New England where a husband and wife who happened to be trusting professors were murdered by two boys taking a phoney survey.

When the preaching work was outright banned, the witnesses started to preach "underground". Since, naturally this one of caesar's laws was contrary to God's. I wonder how they will view this one? While they maintain an official presence, would they dare recommend the witnesses to continue preaching in these zones?
