    Mavie,

Sorry I’m so long in replying. We’re building our kingdom hall and this month has been the busiest ever. I’m glad to hear you’re doing well in Xxxxx. And yes it’s true, we are finally having a kid! I’m still trying to wrap my head around it! Anyway, I’m starting to get excited. Thanks for the congrats.

Still watching soccer? David Beckham anyone? I’ve had little time but I DVR and watch when I can.

I was certainly sorry to hear about you and Xxxxx but more importantly I would like you to know that I personally miss having you around here, Mavie. I hope you consider “coming back” someday.

It was nice hearing from you, Mavie, and watch those (my profession)… they’re a shifty lot!

    Xxxx

It's obvious the point of this email was to inform me that I need to come back to dubland in order to have any meaningful relationships. I'm looking for a firm, but balanced response. I have a draft prepared, but wanted to hear what you guys thought.

I don't see why you have to reply.

I'm w/ purps. I thought it was sweet. He/she showed concern for both your personal and professional life. If you are interested in keeping the friendship, I would reply and thank him/her for being in contact. Catch them up on your life and happiness. I wouldn't even address the "coming back"comment.

I agree with sweetface, just be friendly but don't mention religion at all. Kind of a, "you have your beliefs, and I have mine" deal. Can't we all just get along? GYMBB
