When my dad went to the meeting today, I looked through his room for the Sept. KM so I could make a copy.
I had told him awhile back to be on the lookout for it and said "a friend from another cong. got his early and found the Question Box very intersting".
Just last week I asked if he'd received his copy, and he said he had. I asked what he thought of the Question Box. He said he did not recall what it was about.
I refreshed his memory and said it stated that research into Bible History and Science was basically a waste of time and that if one felt the need to do such research then the Society's publications should suffice.
I said I felt this was a dangerous stand to take. He said "Hummm..." I said" what about the Beoreans?" Dad said "Hummm..." I dropped the subject.
I was dissapointed that a man as intelligent as my dad would not be horrified by this matter. I know I had built myself up for this dissapointment and I'll just have to get over it.
Back to today's search of Dad's room: not only did I find his KM in a folder in his desk, I found one with my husband's name on it!!!! Apparently the cong. still issues him a copy!!!!
He stopped FS and meetings after I did so I guess he's still counted "worthy" by the cong. to receive a KM.
But Dad took it upon himself to count my husband "unworthy".
This just proves to me that the KM did have some effect on Dad. It would appear that the efect is negative and he is drawing a clearer "line in the sand", but who knows? Maybe it will make him think.
