All the quality Elders have left or died. The only thing left is when you still have newbie Elders who believe that they are to care for you and the flock. Of course they become delusioned and leave/ step down or become company men.

    Sad

I know what is meant by your title, "THE QUALITY OF ELDERS GOING DOWN?"

Let me address it from a different prospective than the one implied.
A good elder is defined by WTS or their members as a good speaker, a good worker,
a caring person who puts the welfare of the members ahead of his own, someone who
"takes the lead in the ministry" (I hated even typing that).

I would say that they want an elder to be totally loyal to WTS and totally dedicated to them.
    The WTS calls that "balanced."

I say BULLSHXX. A balanced JW has a life outside of the Kingdom Hall. A real balanced
elder is actually an oxymoron. The newer guys don't do as much for WTS as the elders
used to. They are often leading double lifes. Their kids leave the religion and in the past,
the elder stepped aside, but today, they usually keep him.

Doing less for WTS means more true balance. Stepping aside because your kid doesn't
accept the religion is silly. A good father and elder should accept his child's right to do
what he/she wants and give him/her unconditional love even if he/she is DF'ed. That would
be the elder that could give good counsel. The double life, well, that's cheating. But perhaps
the elder is holding on to privileges for personal reasons. What do I care, as long as he is
doing a good job for them?

The quality of elders is going up. They are less likely to be blindly obedient than in times past.

While I was in, there was one that seemed more interested in the flock than in the rules; he got railroaded out of the eldership and reproved for something he did not do. What was left? The Witlesses. Hounders. They think they can cut off fulfillment of real human needs and still get the victim to do ever more in field circus and donate more money to the Worldwide Pedophile Protection Work.

At the time I walked out, they were nothing more than hounders that had no idea of how to get a person to want to do more. It was always about coercion. Now, if only their administration skills would go to crap along with their ability to motivate, then us apostates might have a chance to ruin the whole organization.

You bet the quality is down !

I still accompany my wife most Sundays, The public speakers are rubbish. No wonder the talks are going down to 30 mins . One elder suggested it was due to "the attention span nowadays".. In other words nobody wants to listen longer.

Shepherding is non existent in our experience . My faithful-to-the-cause wife comlains bitterly about the lack of interest and support.. Thats why I can get away with what I do, nobody cares

My theory is that most of them have been brought up in the borg. The men that I served with in the past had come in later , faught in the war and had some experience of life , and had learned the value of kindness..

    Still, why should I care??
