Does anybody know what year it changed from mentioning 1914 to not mentioning it? Does anyone have the actual before and after wording? Thanks!

I think it was 1995 but, I'm sure someone else can answer in more detail.

I found this in a letter I typed to someone back in February. I think it's acurate.
AWAKE magazine published the following statement in every issue prior to November 1995:
“Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world before the generation that saw the events of 1914 passes away.”
After November 1995 reference to 1914 generation is deleted:
“Most important, this magazine builds confidence in the Creator’s promise of a peaceful and secure new world that is about to replace the present wicked, lawless system of things.”

Marketing schemes have to change as time goes on, stupidly tripping over their doctrines is common with organization

Wow. Thank you.
I remember reading the Awakes for so long that "built confidence" in me that the generation of 1914 would NOT pass away and then sitting at the meeting in 1995 when it was changed so nonchalantly to some vague whenever. I remember feeling that the explanation was incomprehensible gobbledy-gook but dared not say it out loud. I remember not commenting at the meeting. How maddening that they can "explain it all away" and still the people sit and nod appreciatively........

This is just another way of pulling the promise out from under their feet. The message is quietly deleted, and the hope is that no one will notice. Apparently it has worked, since people are just now noticing it after 12 years.
This should be enough to make anyone wonder what else Jehovah and/or His organization is going to jap out on. Is there any reward at all? Or is it all a hoax? Anyone with a working brain should be thinking that, after they pull the 1914 out from under their feet silently and disfellowship (for apostasy) anyone who later dares to bring it up, they could pull anything out from under them also. They could be leading people to Hell. They could in fact be leading people off to Gehenna, while those who disobey and independently and objectively study the Bible and verify the accuracy will get the reward (and disfellowshipped for "apostasy").
The other thing I think they are leading their people off into is an ostracism wasteland. Most people will not accept the message, and that is getting worse with the Internet exposing them as a scam. Ultimately, all active Witlesses will be demonized as potential pedophiles and scammers. They are initiating fraud (and threat of force) on behalf of the Watchtower Society, and will thus be unable to think objectively. It also means that, once people start thinking objectively and reject the totalitarian regulatory agencies that this country is growing, people are going to ostracize anyone professing to be one of Jehovah's Witnesses. By then, just about everyone with anything that resembles normal intelligence will know that it is a scam, and refuse to associate with anyone that is still active in that religion. Those who are disfellowshipped at that time, and not trying to go back, will have an advantage--society at large might even see them as value creators for helping expose the whole scam to the world and stopping them from having their magic 7 million and up publishers.

They changed it in 1995 when they came out with the new idea of the 1914 generation being figurative rather than literal so it could now be centuries long. They had to give up the idea of an end coming within 80 years of 1914 since the passage of time proved that idea wrong.
In other words the JWs were getting duped for 80 years about the timing of the end making sacrifices for nothing. -

Hey Greendawn, that can't be it. Um...the "present truth" just changed, and you gotta keep up with Jehovah's celestial chariot!!!
Or...Jehovah changed his mind. Jehovah thought the end would come by the 1990's, but then he saw that his Witnesses weren't growing their organization fast enough, and he postponed the end. Thus he had to send forth "new light" !!
