My word for it. Isn't our environment the #1 factor in our religious beliefs? This insanity of the 6 million JW's all uniquely having hit the truth lottery is making me sick. If I had been born in Iraq, there is a good chance my wife would wear a burka, I would bow to Mecca 7 times a day, and may have bombs strapped to my body, and yes I would have the truth

India born, Hindu I guess -purple dot on forehead and sacred cow thing. I have the truth.

Born to NY to Hassidic Jews, yeah I would trade in diamons and have long side burns and a hat, plus the truth.

is it #1?........and it is the one thing you can't control.......oompa

You are always so profound in a few short words.

Thanks Tula. I have never been called profound before, so don't make it a habit! I would like to get some more feedback on this subject. It just seems to me that at least starting off in life, we don't really have much choice what we become.

Starting off, oompa, you are right. We have no choice in our circumstances of beginning.

I think that's why scriptures refer to some of us as the "overcomers".

Those with a certain intelligence and curiousity will get past our humble beginnings.

Or maybe its Darwinism..."survival of the fittest".

Maybe its all a test. Those who pass will be "brought together". (Thinking of how the angels are suppossed to separate and round us up at feeding time for the "great marriage feast".)

That's why I beleive the 20th/21st centuries are truely remarkable. As civilization advances, people of all nations are becoming aware of this converging reality, that what we have thought to be a lock on "truth" and religious reality is infact being called to account. The ease with which we can now become aware of the claims of other faiths, the ability to understand what we have in common and what divides us is a thrilling development. Cell phones, text messaging and the world wide web will be the salvation of humanity allowing virtually everyone to seek out and investigate what is true and what is not. I remain extremely optomistic about the future... carmel
