I read this from another thread. Could anybody point me to the proof of this where I could show my roommate. She's constantly saying that the name 'Jehovah' was taken out of the bible, but it looks like you all are saying it's been put in by the JW's. I'm not bible literate so any help would be appreciated.

Here's a place to start: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tetragrammaton_in_the_New_Testament

I think it is more important to research this yourself, rather than someone trying to explain
it in a thread. It's deep, but very very important.Edited to add: I have many problems with the Bible, but (from http://www.towerwatch.com/Witnesses/New_World_Translation/a_better_bible.htm)
the best Bible translation for us today will be the one that most accurately tells us
all of the thoughts of the original writers. However, a Bible translation should never
be used to make the reader think that God is favoring a particular religious group's doctrine. -

Here's the WTS answer to your inquiry:

Notice some leaps of logic and assumptions. I can't believe how I used to
read right through many of those and saw nothing wrong. -

It is quite common knowledge that Jehovah has never been found in the New Testament. However, I have been looking through Watchtower articles for such an admission and am appalled at the dishonest way it deals with this subject. It does not come out and make such an admission, but rather keeps saying that evidences supports that it did appear there. The fact is that Jehovah has not ever been found in a single ancient NT document.
