My mom is disfellowshipped ... She works as a bank teller. One of my old friends from high school who went to my congregation went by my mom's window and they talked for a while. This girl was never baptized but her whole family was in. Somehow she had her mom call my mom and they even offered to let mom and me visit their vacation home. I was like .. "what is going on here?"

So I asked mom to get her phone number for me. Mom asked her the next time she stopped by the bank if she could give me her number. She agreed and so I gave her a call last night.

We started off just talking about the past .. then she moved to talk about her sister (who is really JW brainwashed) and finally she broke the ice by saying, "So I hear you denounced your faith. .. My sister called you an apostate." And we had a really great conversation about how stupid the WT society is. All of her family is out of the org except for her one sister and she will not talk to any of them. Her sister won't even to her her and she never got baptized.

I was so happy. It was great to talk to someone who I could talk to about people I knew growing up.

I met a man through work about 7 years ago, who was also a d/fed JW. We bacame firm friends and have to this day. Our common upbringing gave us a bond which cemented our friendship. He is brilliant and he is good friends with my now husband. Yesterday i was really touched.....I had met him at the pub for lunch and he introduced me to someone else he knew in the pub as one of his best friends .

Also recently I read something another poster had written on this board and identified with the story she had spoke of.......although her location did not fit.....so I pm'ed her and asked about it.......and sure enough she knew me and we grew up in the same congregation......although she keeps her identity concealed for lots of reasons we have chatted about lots of stuff to do with our old congregation.......it is sometimes strange as to how small the world really is.

Good luck with your new found friend.
