What do you think will happen to Danny now?

I dont know, but if he is tried and convicted I hope he doesnt get jail time as that would hinder his apostate activities on the net, and that would make the WT Society rejoice.

I don't know what will happen, since I do not know all the circumstances and what was filed in any report. What I did see is that no charges were filed. That could, unfortunately, change.

There are too many unseen variables to make that decision of what he deserves. I do know that he deserved peace and quiet, and the Witlesses kept violating that right by calling on him despite clear warnings that they were not welcome. Why they would call on him is beyond me. He is a well known apostate, and probably disfellowshipped. If he is disfellowshipped or disassociated, there is no reason why they are even calling on him. The annual hounding call for such people is not to be done in the case of active apostates. It would serve them right to get disfellowshipped for associating with a disfellowshipped person in their attempts to harass Danny Haszard. I believe the idiots that egged Lady Liberty's house last Christmas deserve this penalty as well.

Another thing that is a variable is how many warnings did Danny give them. He had No Trespassing signs on his house, in plain view, and full-time video surveillance because of their ongoing harassment. They have been known to slash Danny's tires. They ruined his health with that "Stay Alive to '75" crap. They drained his bank account. I have no way of knowing whether Danny explicitly warned them that the next Witless(es) that called on him were going to regret it. Despite these circumstances, they stupidly and foolhardily called on him anyway, violating his right to be left in peace for some more harassment.

They are lucky they don't live in a state where trespassers can be shot. While I do not condone shooting Witlesses on sight, there are states where if you have a clearly visible No Trespassing sign and they show up anyway, they can be shot and the householder let off the hook. They had better be thankful it was only pepper spray and not a gun--especially if they were doing this in an area where trespassers can be shot. Besides, what if it had been a dog instead of the pepper spray?

Even assuming Danny acted out of place, I view it as a mistake. From what he has posted on his web site, the Witlesses are putting him through ongoing harassment, and it is a matter of time before something like this would happen. This was not an act of someone premeditatedly and unprovokedly attacking innocent people, and he was provoked repeatedly. In the event that Danny was in the wrong, he was not thinking clearly at the time. Most of us do stupid things all the time, but usually less public than that (insults, poor advice, etc). I don't think it's fair to Danny to expect perfection out of him all the time, any more than it was for the Witlesses to expect it out of us while we were active. He is only human (even though the Witlesses were human too; I don't know what in the world they were doing calling on a well-known apostate).

In the absence of other details about the background harassment and the whole incident, I think he should be let off the hook. I also think there should be anti-harassment laws that stop the Witlesses from calling on people that are clearly not interested (especially apostates), and force them to integrate the Do Not Call lists so it is easier to get on one, and harder to get inadvertently purged from it. The yearly call should also be banned, since most people can look up the Witlesses and show up on their own. At worst, I think Danny should be sentenced to community service--possibly helping other victims of this cult to escape.
