my JW mother shuns me.
I just figured this out. When my parents became Hohos in 1974 in AZ, my mother preached the sh*t out of everyone, so that her Catholic mother and sisters couldn't stand her. Once, we were visiting the grandparents in Indiana, and in the car my mom started this this, what turned into a rant about Jehoho this Jehoover that, in the new system I'll have a lion bs, and my grandmother expertly turned her head in frustration and said, "Look at that cornfield!" That was a joke of our for many years until she died, then it was funnier still, you could effectively end any conversation abruptly in our house with the cornfield observation.
Early on in our fade, my mother wrote how I had hurt her so much because we were so close, and I said something like 'knock it off, why can't we be friends? leave your religion out of our relationship', so naturally then she recounted what wonderful parents they were and how I had pioneered for so long and now I wouldn't get to the new world just like what's his name in the bobble, standing on the hill overlooking the promised land knowing he would die, and thus I ended an email conversation with my mother with, "Look at that cornfield!"
It's just history repeating itself.
