    LESSON 2

I have given everything I see in this room (on this street, from this window, in this place) all the meaning that it has for me.

    1. The exercises with this idea are the same as those for th first one. Begin with the things that are near you, and apply the ide to whatever your glance rests on. Then increase the range outward. Turn your head so that you include whatever is on either side. If possible, turn around and apply the idea to what was behind you. Remain as indiscriminate as possible in selecting subjects for its application, do not concentrate on anything in particular and do not attempt to include everything you see in a given area, or you will induce strain.

    2. Merely glance easily and fairly quickly around you, trying to avoid seletion by size, brightness, color, material, or relative importance to you. Take the subjects simply as you see them. Try to apply the exercise with equal ease to a body or a button., a fly or a floor, an arm or an apple. The sole criterion for applying the idea to anything is merely that your eyes have lighted on it. Make no attempt to include anything particular, but be sure that nothing is specifically excluded.

my experience today is that i'm much more aware of my surroundings, in a mindful positive way. the result is that i'm feeling more organized and my mind is not so cluttered with things that i have to do tomorrow or what happened yesterday.

    hi summer,

thank you for your responses I used to meditate purposely, but now it comes very naturally.

i live in very peaceful, calm surroundings, don't have television and listen to national public radio. while i'm cooking, canning, gardening i go into meditative states as I do when i'm walking or riding my bike.

you mentioned you take yoga classes. how long?

A course in miracles is my favorite book! Thank you for posting about it. Are you actually taking the course with the Society for inner peace or are you just reading the book and self guiding?

glad to hear from you. i did the lessons on my own about 7 years back when I left jw's. there aren't any organized groups in my area. i found the book while i was working through A Gift To Myself by Charles Whitfield. It really helped to clear my mind of all the jw brainwashing. I've been posting on JWD about a month and noticed that many people are still held captive by jw induced guilt, fear, anger. I thought perhaps posting the lessons might be helpful to others. In the meantime, I'm benefiting tremendously from the review.

How and when did you come across A Course In Miracles and what has been your experience?

Look forward to hearing from you.

I took Kundalini Yoga classes and did daily meditation for some 3 years. I also did Reiki. But this all changed when I started studying with the JWs. My study conductor was feeding me {and still does} litterature like there is no tomorrow. But I now know without the shadow of a doubt that this is not getting me anywhere. And I need to 'readjust' my main focus:-)

We are similar in so many ways. I watch very little tv. And I don't want anything to do with daily world news. I also try to be very present in the 'now' in whatever I do. So yes, daily life becomes a meditation on its own.

Have a peaceful and calm day, Jeanette. You know what??? Deep down, life is good*

    Francine~
