I'm watching the ceremony on C-span. So far a very self-serving speech by Diane Feinstein who used the word "I" more than anyone else so far. A very good speech by a man who got the gold medal 22 years ago - I didn't get his name - his speech was about the right of all people to freedom of religion and culture. Interesting that he added culture as a "right." Also noticing how many times each speaker says "his holiness the 14th Dalai Lama" as if the audience has forgotten who they are talking about.

Did any of them say "I would like to thank the little people"?
Did you notice if any of them had handprints on their shoes?
This freedom of religion needs to go; there is no freedom IN religion. That's why there is separation of church and state. You give your freedom and your right of thought over to the authority of church government when you become a member. That's why it seems a real misnomer to be called a "Non-Governmental Organization". Actually, it is a governmental organization.
Are they taking call-ins on the program?
Did the Dahli Lama speak?

He is speaking now - I always like to listen to him. He doesn't really care if you believe or if you don't believe. And of course he's talking about political things, not really about religious things. He's the only religious person I have any time for, as I agree with you that religion is a prison, a lie, a delusion.

The Dali Lama is a joke, he said having sex in the afternoon was a sin. He also supported militant groups who raped and killed people in villages. Damn hippies spreading ideals they have no knowledge of! Oh that was not directed towards you Hortensia just hippies in general.
