Serious suggestion for JW's

Why does your name have to appear on the monthly report card that you hand in? I completely understand the need to keep track of hours, placements etc., but this could be accomplished without each persons name. Is it really necessary (or scriptual) to judge the state of a persons spirituality by numbers tallied on a score card? This always bothered me.

My suggestion is to continue accepting reports, but do so without keeping a running record of each publisher. If this work is as important as you say, God will keep track of your record for you so you can earn your salvation.

Just doing my part to help out!!

Not only do you have to be on the clock but you HAVE to be in the union as well and pay dues. The hours suck but the pension is great.

Why bother with reporting at all? If I spent 1 hour in FS it usually meant I talked about 5 mins to people...in reality. So it gives a misleading picture.

The whole setup is rotten from the inside out. Nuff said

I think they are afraid someone would stuff the "ballot" box. Not that some have not gone out and just turned in a slip anyway.

"Why bother with reporting at all?"

It's very important to keep records of the activity spent in the service. Once a year they mail these reports to God so he can figure out his discipline strategies. Also, God needs to know how many books and magazines are being placed with the public so he knows when he needs to crank out the holy spirit to guide his writers. And finally, by keeping track of the numbers, God can figure out who's earning better acreage (maybe next to a lake) for the coming paradise in the new system. After all, you can't have some 1-hour-a-month shmuck grabbing up the good paradise spots!

I have another suggestion for God: have your organization change the report slips to include good deeds performed toward widows and orhans--- no, wait a minute, I guess that doesn't boost membership. Nevermind.

lol dan, i live for sarcasim. if there was no score card how would we know the winner?

but seriously, the org needs names on the cards to determine who is placing and who needs a special talk. they also keep detailed stats at every level from the top all the way down to the individual.

    Hi willy_think,

"but seriously, the org needs names on the cards to determine who is placing and who needs a special talk. they also keep detailed stats at every level from the top all the way down to the individual."

I know why they need names, but I still don't agree that it is proper. But, being a religion based completely on works, how else could it be? Your "level" of spirituality is based on the numbers. Just like any salesman, I guess.

It's all about control and manipulation by guilt. Anonymous reporting would prevent the identification of the slackers and exempt them from the inevitable "encouragement" from the elders that ensues when one fails to report.
And once the sense of accoutability is lost via anonymity, there's not telling how many fewer "publishers'' would even bother with the charade of token service intended mainly to ward off criticism.
