So, I swore to myself after leaving the Dubs and getting DF'd earlier this year that I would never enter a church again, except for weddings, etc. Well, for the longest time, I've had some musician buddies of mine that attend a local church, and they have a musical service. I met one of the pastors a long time ago, and he and I became friends, just a very down to earth type guy. He is married, has kids, smokes cigars, drinks whiskey, collects vintage instruments, plays bass and goes to blues clubs all the time. He's never once mentioned religion to me, except when I asked him a question. He's never quoted scripture to me, or brow-beat me like some religious folks do. So I called up a buddy of mine that used to be a devout Catholic and we went to church together. The service was nice, it talked about how God loves us, even when we fall short, and focusing on our blessings that we have in modern society. There were some announcements and a children's service and lots of music. The best part was the ending... The band broke into an old ZZ Top song, "Jesus Just Left Chicago", and I was invited up to play lead guitar with them, because my buddies, know I'm a huge Billy Gibbons fan. I had a blast playing with them. The house lead guitarist is my guitar mentor, and he is an absolutely fabulous musician. Don't think I'll go every Sunday, but it was nice to go, and "get some religion" to quote the late, great blues musician Son House.

Sounds more like a jamming session than a preaching one - I'd probably enjoy that.
