Courage of a blind man

Every day, I see this man who lives in my neighbourhood, and he walks around the block twice a day. He is completely blind. He must be about 65 years old. When he walks, he swings that cane left and right to the maximum to scan anything that could be in his way.

There is enough traffic around here, but still he will walk around the block with his cane every day.

I can imagine the joy he would have, if he could see once more. Maybe he was born blind, who knows?

He walks in front of an elders house around here also.....just 2 streets away.

I'm sure that the elder would love to talk to him about a verse that says "God will open his eyes and he will see again" but only .....

IF he joins the JW's !!!

I walk a lot too, and often I meet him when he is walking and he has no clue what's in front of him, until his cane hits something, then he reacts to the best he can.

I think it's really cool of you to notice him and think of him enough to post this.

Sometimes, with life being so hectic we don't "see" what we see everyday.

    You're my favorite rat!

You know this guy probably never has anyone speak to him when he is taking his walks.

If I were in your shoes I would try to get a conversation started with him. You could whistle or hum a tune as you approach him so he wouldn't be startled, although he might know you are there anyway.

I would want to know his story.

I'm so awkward, I would probably say to him, "Could you please tell me what time it is", or "Have you seen the mail man yet"?

JH - I think you could do it and you would be the better for it, he obviously has your interest,

after all, you called him courageous.

I think you should go for it and fill us in.

BTW - you aren't awkward YOU ARE A SUPREME ONE, the force has long been with you.

    Hey JH,

A&W stole my thunder here. I'll never forgive her!

I've met you, and yes you are a little awkward. But you're also friendly and likable. This man should sense that. Who knows, you could strike up a great friendship? Or at least have him know that someone in his neighborhood cares.

Just as I was writting my last post, he walked AGAIN right in front of here. I walk a lot too, and often I saw him close up, and he has no clue what's in front of him, like a parked car or something, but he knows EXACTLY where he is on a global point of view, cause when he changes street at the corner here, he hits the sidewalk often with his cane, knowing he is in a curve and changing street. And he knows by the sound if he is approaching a boulevard.

    I'm quick with the camera

Gee, it's over a year that I see him walk. Sometimes I see a young woman walk a few steps with him just to talk to him a bit and make him feel secure I guess.

Once I was mowing the lawn here, and stopped making noise when he was approaching, so that he could hear his way around, like he usually does.
