Time change - aftermath

Well... yesterday was the day I decided to change all of the clocks - since I didn't need to get up at a specific time, so didn't bother to set the bedroom alarm clock.

I have amassed quite a collection of wall clocks - about 5, with 1 mantle clock - that chime the hour - and the half-hour. Most of these are of the spring wind-up type.

It is not good to just spin the hands on these types of clocks backwards - as that may ruin them - so I went from one to the other - spinning the hands forward - through each half-hour - and then each hour - chime/gong... then on to the next - all 11 hours. I did this with all six of the clocks. It took about 5 to 10 minutes to get them all set.

Afterwards, I was a bit *twitch* dongie. *twitch*

    I'll be alright... *twitch*

    Regards,

    I'm pleased for you Jim.

I thought this might be a thread about the generation change fallout! LOL.

Just thought I'd chime in with that.

    Pete.

I may have forgotten to mention... I also have other clocks in the house. I had to set them also.

It's interesting, when all of the chimimn clocks go off... I have yet to get them all to be in unison, but the house sounds like 'Doc's on Back to the Future. It can get quite noisy for about a minute at the top of the hour.

I'm in love with some of the "atomic" clocks I have that set themselves by receiving radio signals from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). There are even some wristwatches that do this. Typically the clocks get the signal during the night, and do their little time-setting cha-cha while I'm asleep.

I have found that one located near my computer cannot receive the signal if the computer is on - or even asleep - so I periodically have to turn that system completely off for one evening.

It is very helpful to have at least one clock in the house that I can be sure has the right time all the time.
