http://www.seattleweekly.com/2007-11-07/music/the-teenage-jehovah-s-witness-and-his-tribute-to-the-man-in-black.php So, there is this teenage boy, named Vinny Miranda, in Seattle, who is a crazy for Johnny Cash, country/latino singer. This article about him is surprisingly frank in ways that I am surprised to see a JW admit. I don't see this kid being welcome in his hall much more, but thats just my impression based on my time here combined with the frankness of the article and the young man they are featuring. Have a look at it! Here is one exerpt:

"Before he could record with John Carter Cash, however, Miranda had to convert his fellow Jehovah's Witnesses to rockabilly. His appearances at a club that also put on weekly "I See London, I See France" cabaret shows had already raised some hackles. He says fellow Witnesses approached his family at church to relay the message, "He can't sing here." In Miranda's faith, doing anything that takes "too much" time away from the church is sinful, he says. Pop and rock careers are especially bad. Anytime the church wants to demonstrate the corrupting influence of music, it can point to Jehovah's Witnesses such as guitar-masturbating Prince and creepy sleepover host Michael Jackson. But Miranda had a response ready for the doubters: Johnny Cash elevates the soul."

He is from an area called Federal Way, if his HS is any indication. It looks liked he must be in a very crowded hall, and possibly a hispanic cong. because of the days for their meetings. I have NEVER seen such a meeting schedule, has anyone here?

" A Jehovah's Witness, he transforms his Friday, Saturday, and Sunday church services into miniature funerals. "

Is that normal these days? (the funeral reference is about how he dresses-all in black, like Johnny Cash).

That's cool but the comments on it are a little dumb. Must we always attack every article with anti JW stuff? Jeez the article is painting the singer and not the JW's in good light. Sometimes I think we need to chill out.
