What is the Illuminators Book, and why is it a secret WT publication?

I just caught someone mentioning it on the JW Topix Forum when discussing the door-to-door field ministry in a thread. Is this a secret publication that is used in Pioneer School? If so, why is it secret? I've never heard of it before, and I've been in these forums for years, nor did I ever hear of it at the Kingdom Hall.

So what is it? I have a strange feeling it some kind of Theocratic War Strategy Manual for the overzealous self-righteous Pioneer sisters, am I right? Oh wait, is this a little orange book with a glowing torch on it, about 1/4 inch thick? Now that I think of it, I think I may have seen it with the other rainbow books of my late parents that I threw out months ago - due to all that stuff being "Old Light" anyway.

Anyone have any scans of it? The very title instantly conjured up images in my mind to the "Illumaniti". Reptilian overlord bastards! We know you are out there with your forked tongue and alien-demon intentions! lol. Man, I gotta stop reading so much on the internet................

    What a boring book.

I took a look at mine a little while back. Crazy to see how similar it is to a book that teaches you sales techniques.

There is nothing in it you can't find in the other publications. Same old crap, organized in a different sequence.

There's nothing illuminating about it. It's like the elder's manual. The important stuff you have to write in by hand.

It is really silly that the WTS determines "special" books that no one else can have.

    • the ministry school
    • after you are baptized
    • pioneers
    • bethelites
    • elders
    • circuits overseers
    • district overseers
    • branch offices

I had no idea my husband had the elders book but then I never went snooping in his stuff

and if you leave or step down they want the book back

In a world where the only status a person has is limited to providing a service free of charge these "special" books are bound to make some people think they have reached an important level in their progress up the ladder

If you quit pioneering you can still keep your book. It is basically an outline of numerous scriptures. The real info is during the discussion. I remember we were blown away being taught to make return visits 2 days after the initial contact. jws just don't followup on rvs that fast; usually wait until they forget what the person even looked like, assuming they made note of their name. It's no big deal. The elders manual does have more interesting info that is outlined in ways that are hard to find in the general publications. Such as staying overnight unchaperoned with someone of the opposite sex (or known homosexual) being a basis for dfing.

Yeah, I still have my copy. I'll probably ebay it soon, along with my illuminators book!

I do have that book. When I was serving as a pioneer and attended to the pioneers school. Indeed very suspicious title: illuminati, masons, Newo World Order...give food for a lot of conspiracy

Blondie, how many pioneers observe this principle and make an RV that quickly? I know the ones in our area were pretty quick to return, but I don't think it was 2 days, more like a week later.

The ones locally don't observe that principle either. They might return within a month if the person shows minimal interest. The only ones that seem to get RVs within 2 days are ones that may want a "Bible Study" on the initial visit.

That sure is an interesting way at handling a life-saving work.
