Take a look at this article in the Detroit News. You won't even be able to get a factory job without a college education!

Interesting comment in the article--No wonder the Bible at Hosea 4:6 says: "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge."

Sorry - you may need to cut and paste.

Not all jobs require a college education and not all people should get them. Your choices are somewhat limited if you don't go to college, but saying every one should go is not accurate. Truck drivers and shelf stockers and the vast majority of factory jobs, and farm workers, and a lot of service jobs do not require a college degree.

It looks like your article is trying to prove that the Jehovahs witlesses are God people. Maybe Hosea had something. A modern day a-typical application of the scripture.

God was always disiplining his people. Time to go back to the kingdumb hall or be destroyed as smart apostates?

"High-paying factory jobs," not "factory jobs."

    Big difference.

What is this, a Watchtower meeting?

There are some people that do not need to go to college. First, there are musicians that have pop albums that have dropped out of high school and made it big. Billy Joel and Kenny Loggins are both high school dropouts that made it big in the music business. Some entertainers in other fields are able to do without college or even completion of high school.

The other major group that can dispense with college is those who are working beyond society's establishments. People that are developing and marketing alternative energy sources, setting up a new computer protocol, or those who are starting their own businesses may not need (or even benefit from) a college education. I wonder if Bill Gates, for instance, would have been able to get his software without a college degree had he been working on it from scratch (if it didn't exist before, then college is going to provide no guidance for developing it).

That leaves the other 99.9% of us who depend on business leaders for work. And, to get the better paying jobs, you are going to need college education. While those developing new infrastructure do not need college to do their job, those following them will need college in order to learn to use them to the full. And that is just about everyone.

To skip college just to pioneer is the ultimate folly. All those who can dispense with college without any negative consequences are already working independently, and the Watchtower Society cannot have any of that in its own ranks. Those who are dependent on others, like the Tower wants, had better go to college or they are in for dead end jobs with crap pay. Window washers do not make decent pay--and I wonder what they are going to do when companies decide that a little dust on the windows isn't that bad after all. (Or someone invents and markets windows that clean themselves). I think we are in for a lot of very poor Witlesses that are not going to have anything to spend on gas for pioneering during their senior years.

It's better to be prepared than to end up working at McDonald's. I'm not picking on McDonald's employees. I worked for them in management for 4 years. Yes, the pay was decent--but My God, the stress was unbearable. With a college degree I could have made more money while working probably 15 hours less per week.

In the job market now, you can't even get a job sweeping the floor in a factory without a high school diploma. Even in jobs where a degree isn't required, employers still prefer you have one.

There may be some people who are not mentally capable of higher education. Learning a trade is better than just taking a sales clerk job at Wal-Mart. There are many who own their own businesses who simply learned a trade. The world will always need people to repair appliances, air conditioning units, broken water pipes, etc.

A mind is a terrible thing to waste. The org keeping the new system right around the corner still has the young ones thinking there is no time for education. That's just sad. In fact, I think it should be criminal.

To work on the modern robotics in a factory requires a college or advanced electronics education. Robts are complicated contraptions, and the high school shop class just doesn't contain it.

Hell, just to clear a paper jam in a copier...needs an electrical degree. Have you seen the inside of a modern copier?
