  What do the Watchtower tell "brothers assigned by the congregation to give public talks"? Here is a letter from the British Branch Office:

  This is interesting material, however it is several years old. I know it is at least 15 years old, and it was revised slightly in 1998. If I can find it, I'll send it along.

  Thanks for this Kent - loved two statements in particular -

  It is not a matter of giving a learned discourse to a highly educated group. You have a vital message to get across with enthusiasm to an average audience.

  
  AVERAGE AUDIENCE?!?!?! Well, thanks very much! So now we are not in the highly educated class? No wonder is it seeing as further education was in effect banned, average.... what a cheek!

  Doubtless you will be assigned one or more talks from the list provided by the Society. It is preferred that you give these talks rather than talks you have composed yourself.

  
  Oh, so dont bother having any ideas of your own, we don't want those thank you very much, stick with the programme....

  Isn't it amazing how these things sound so different when you leave and see it from another angle.

  While cleaning out my closet, I found a box of tapes. Amoungst all the music tapes, I had found a tape made of a public talk by an elder in my old congregation. I popped the tape into the cassette player and began to listen to it. To all those who deny that College was discouraged in the KH's, I have a cassette tape to prove otherwise. It was a special public talk on guarding your children. Alright, so this has nothing to do with Kent's post, but sa-la-vie. Just wanted to air that one out. LOL.
