I saw this guy on the Today Show this morning. After failing to climb K2 he was helped by Pakistani villagers. Since then he has been building schools all over Pakistan and Afghanistan.

His goal is to fight terrorism with education, being that most jihadis are illiterate.

He also subscribes to the African philosophy that says: "If you teach a boy, you educate an individual, but if you teach a girl, you educate a village".

I completely agree with his views of changing the world, one child and one village at a time, through eduaction.

I'll go out and buy his book: "Three Cups of Tea", this afternoon.

    "What the world

    needs now

    is education

    sweet education.

    It's the only thing

    that there's just

    too little of"

Seriously though - if one actually succeeded in educating people around the world, one could change a lot. For instance one could teach certain African tribes that having sex with a virgin or infant actually won't cure your HIV/AIDS, but will only make things much much worse... Myths and superstition should be done away with (as accepted fact) and some real facts put in stead. Tough job though. But it has to start somewhere.

The 9/11 hijackers attended college. They were educated.

They were also brainwashed by religion.

Many here went to school, maybe even college and university, yet still got brainwashed by the Jehovah's Witnesses.

Smart people can still be completely wrong when it comes to their religious beliefs. They need to be educated on the religion they follow, from more than a source which is a part of the religion itself.
