This Thursday I will be attending my very first, real, live, Thanksgiving dinner with some extended ("worldy") family. I'm pretty excited. I guess it might sound kind of silly to a lot of people, but then again, I've never celebrated any holiday in my entire life (born and raised in dub-world). I always liked the idea of Thanksgiving. Sure, there are some historic glitches when it comes to native Americans and so forth, but I think the nature of the holiday has superceded that. I laugh when I think of all the stupid reasoning the WTS used to not celebrate it. It was always the hardest holiday to talk your way out of when in the field ministry.
Holidays are good. It helps us to remember the important things in life, to process our collective past, and just simply have a day off work. To eat, drink, and generally chill out with family and friends. And if I can do just a little bit of that, I'll consider my Thanksgiving holiday to be a successful one.
Happy Thansgiving everyone,
