The interesting thing is that this article scientifically and chronologically undermines the Biblical myth of the "Flood" and uses Noah's Ark as an allegory, not as a fact.
What it suggests is that a huge ice shelf gave way in Northern Canada eight thousand years ago raising sea levels around the globe by around four feet and causing catastrophic floods in the Black Sea area. This is borne out by archeological and geological evidence in the Black Sea area and is not a new theory.
It concludes that this event was the seed which sowed all the myths of the flood found in various societies around the world, a positation which makes a lot of sense. It is not suggesting that there was a global flood, but a number of smaller catastrophic events that then entered folk-lore, including the Bible as a moral tale.
