It is a real shame that the WT acts this way, keeping things barely legal, reporting cases only when mandated by the aurthorities, while showing an obvious disregard for the victims. It is deeply sad that JW children are being protected, not by the WT, but by the media and the so-called apostates, because it is only after the exposure that the WT has started to turn this into a real issue. And, as said by others in this forum, they are still missing the point.
One more point. If you read the WT statement to NBC you will also notice that it has been presented in a way that only those who already have knowledge of the matter would understand. It tries to dismiss the real issue and does not provide details on the settlement. Since JW are systematically dicouraged from accessing information that is critical to the sect, this means that the majority would continue in ignorance of the fact tha their money is being used in this disgraceful manner.
