You'd think over the years that there must have been some good-hearted righteous Elders disgusted enough to disobey the Society and anonymously contact the Authorities .
I would have and I know Elders now that would!
Just wondering out loud!

Hi 5th G,
No u wouldn't, most if not all elders follow orders. I think what a number do is step down and leave,
LLBH
You're probably mostly right but as I said:
I know Elders now that would!
I hope so. An old and valued friend if mine used to be an elder, and both he and I think that the stance taken by the society on this issue leaves individual elders who know about abuse very exposed to a tortious action - legal action

I would love to be able to ask my father, what he would have done, while he was an elder. When I was 15, a man exposed himself to me, on the way walking to school. I called him, from a house, and he went looking for the guy. He got the guys license plate, and called the police, and they all came and got me out of school, to go down to the police station to look at mug shots.
I couldn't pick him out, of the whole big book. The police showed me a picture of 4 brothers, and they said it was one of them. None of them looked like him. They said, they would find him, and threaten him anyway.
I got a ride to school from then on. YEAH!!!! I walked over a mile for 10 years. Snow and Rain. Then I get a ride, when I get to see my first penis. Go figue!!
This was a worldly person. Not a witness. But when my sister was accosted by a step/relative, years later, no police were called.
I don't know what my elder dad would do, unfortunately, I really don't.
horrible life--that's terrible about how your sister's situation was handled differently.
There is just one problem with elders reporting abuse to the authorities. You can get disfellowshipped for doing it. They call it "slander".
