since i was out in FS today, and i was thinking why do Jehovah's witnesses (supposedly teach false doctrine) but they want everybody to live a pure and clean life. take for example not to recreational drugs and for everyone to be moral christian way of life as in Galatians 5:22 and 23. so my question is why make up (supposed false teachings) yet act as a goody goody Christan?

The answer in short, because they think it's right.

As you already know, they believe that what they teach, their "present truth" that is, can't be disputed or argued against because it's the absolute truth. So, of course they'll continue on to teach their false teachings......as long as the Governing Body tells them to.

XOCO, do you know the history of this religion? The differences between Russell and Rutherford? I truly believe the JWs are like many, they were trying to do the right thing, their egos simply got in the way.

I hear what you're sayng, but they got in over their heads when they came up with that FADS crap, thats when the Machoivelli rule came into effect; absolute power corrupted them absolutely. I don't think they were wanting to do bad per-se, just that they are men,a nd like all men they wanted power... much like Satan, they wanted others to serve them.

So they make up rules that keep the power in the place they want it. Just like the rule that you can't question them without being an "apostate" to god, that means that questioning them is the same as questioning God. As for the policies that followed, they actually may have believed that God was working through them, but that's what having that kind of power does to men, they don't know when to stop. THey actually bagan to believe that they were the "channell" Gad was using, many have thought the same before these fools, and I'm sure many will follow.

You can teach a child to do as they're told else Santa wont come or you can give them some freedom, make them happy and know that when they do things it's from their heart and they enjoy doing so. You can keep giving out commands or you can discuss and work things out together - which may not always be what you expect. So, if you catch my drift, The WTBTS is able to help you see how it wants the best for you, but you must always follow their rules and stop thinkin up your way about your life! Like with kids - you can inspire the child or control them. They may both do things well but which one will be happier? And the worst bit is the man above won't like you so it's fear. Not love - fear! It's all about how you get people to do the right thing. I can see in some neighborhoods how JWs could keep your kids out of gang culture with few alternatives so it can be a tricky question. The big problem for me is them being the only way and shun you if you don't, with the God fear on top!

but that's the thing i dont't get b/c their were ppl from christendom who were living a bad way of life w/o the direction of god and etc. but once the person learns about the false teachings they may or may not going back to their old habits and regret leaving the truth or jah therefore making the person come back to the dubs.

Thanks XOCO... there are a few places to look this stuff up on the internet, but there's a book written by Ray Franz that I hope you'll look into... it's called "Crisis of Conscience"; he was a member of the Governing Body and has the inside track. It has WT history, failed predictions, doctine changes, false claims and the like and is well written by a man that obvioulsy has no axe to grind. Good luck my sister....

Vices cost money. Why spend money on vices when it can be donated to the cult?

    Hi, and welcome.

You are assuming that JW's actually practice what they preach, which they do not. There are lots of drug addicts and alcohols in amongst the witnesses, they just hide it better, how many are on prescription "painkillers", "anti-depressants" and drink more than moderately? How many witnesses in their own homes watch R-rated movies, porn and even smoke pot on occasion when they think they won't get caught? How many elders and ministral servants had pre-marital sex and never fessed up? How many are pedophiles? The numbers are actually shocking, if you choose to really open your eyes.

What draws people back isn't regret for their "bad habits" per say, its regret of losing their social circle, family and loved ones.

The reason for all the extra rules or false doctrines is control, its that simple. The more you can control behavior, every aspect of a person's life and thoughts, the more control you maintain over them. I don't think the WTS started out with an agenda to become a "control group", Russell said to flee from anything organized, ironic isn't it? That the very founding father of the witnesses would shake his head in disgust at where the "society" now sits. Mind you, he was no saint himself. I would suggest researching as much as you can about him, Rutherford, etc.

The reason for going door to door, is to increase profit. Ever notice how the annual publishers are listed in the Watchtower but never the annual finacial records. Think about it.

So, how were the householders, as they prepared for their day of thanksgiving? Place any literature? Meet any interested ones? What kind of donut shop did your group grace? What was the general atmosphere as the group prepared to save the lost Philistines? Or did you ditch the group, and hang out in an orange grove, listen to heavy metal music, and have a few snorts of chardonay wine? Was the wasted time and gas worth it?
