JEHOVAH ZULU
It begins and ends with a majesty unbearable.
The mind of man meets the thought of God. It uplifts, sustains. It terrifies and destroys.
The human race is enthralled, consumed, removed from time and place as man reaches out toward heaven for its Truth. Like starving children in a darkness, mankind cries out to the sky. (Heaven: Zulu: Sky)
Where is the ear of God? Where is the miracle of healing? Every creeping thing finds some small bit of life's miracle. But, for human minds, mere being is not enough. We must transcend mere being! Consciousness provides the stuff of god to fashion what we may. Clay god, stone god, wooden god with careful carvings and golden overlay; a dying demi-god hung on a tree: our jewelry. We worship only what we can see.
.
Our children clutch a Teddy bear; embracing dolls and giving them their love. Children cuddle and converse with imaginative assurance. The empty, hollow eyes of toys return their gaze. They offer food and drink, tell it what they think and laughter rings the rafters with such fun. So too, the monster in the dark; the evil, creepy void they sense is "there". We children drown in shadows of the night in shivering delight while clutching at salvation from this dread; unsafe within the comfort of our bed.
What awful things we are; what magnificence
The greed of life: eternity must color all our dreams.
How we get from here.....to there commences with our scheme to build a ladder unto heaven in our mind.
Like Jack, who climbed the beanstalk, what shall we find? A land of giants and talking beasts? A storybook of rules and feasts? A dagger for the breast of whom we hate? A destiny, a purpose or a fate?
A war cry of our God; the Zulu chant beyond the hills cries havoc to us all. The pounding shields and booming voices shout aloud and send a terror thrumming to the clouds. God is coming..coming..coming and there's murder in his eyes....unless we can befriend him and appease; he'll expunge us like an odious disease!
