Very nice ladies. Dressed a lot better than they were in the 70's!
They asked if I thought the Bible was reliable, presenting the new "special edition" of the Awake about if the Bible is true. Also left 2 WT (Nov. ed's)
Told them I WAS questioning the veracity of the Bible (I am!) and that I have looked into their beliefs and found I didn't agree with them-which is also true. I said I had seen their publications before and spent considerable time underlining them and writing arguements against what they were saying.
Somehow they segued the conversation to their favorite scripture, Psalms 37? I think. Oh, they also asked if I had started looking into the scriptures because of recent troubles in my life (Aren't their ploys obvious???) I assured them that the Bible was a hobby of mine, and my questions came from my avid reading OF the Bible. The gal in the back looked like she agreed with me, but didn't say anything:)
OH, when they brought up Ps. 37, about living forever, I alluded to the script where it talks about young men not dying until they are old in Isaiah 65 . .gave her something to look up. She vaguely remembered it. Its all the Lamb and lion and a young lad leading them all script. . .
Anyway, the dog got out. So the conversation disintegrated before they could ask for a donation. I would have given them a buck though, cause I haven't looked at any recent mags and wanted to see what was in it.
I am sure they will be back:) I will be more prepared now that I gave them some things to think about. I will look at their mag about the veracity of the Bible, which I openly questioned. I also did tell her that I had a lot of oppositional ideas and they would probably find me obnoxious. She wanted me to give her a listen anyway. Then the dog got out. She'll be back.
I will tell them my issues with the Bible itself. I will write a freaking book report. Maybe. Anyway, that is what happened to me today.
