Your countries flag

Five years ago I purchased my first home. One of the first things I did was hang the flag. (American)

This morning I noticed it is worn and needs replacement and I started thinking about other things I have with the flag on it. My favorite coffee mug has a flag, my last truck(sold it)had a flag decal. I have two fold up chairs for outdoor events (like the Fourth of July) that have the flag on them and I have a flag dress shirt I wear on occasion when I go dancing. (People say wow, should I salute?)

I was wondering if anyone here displays their countries flag. How and what objects have your flag on them?

I must say us South Africans don't really display our flags on / around our homes. BUT when anything of national pride is happening (like the rugby world cup) my Gosh, we have our flags painted on our faces, chest, we have them stuck on our cars flapping.

we have a very colourful flag.

I live in the US, and fly two USA flags, one on a pole and one by the door. I think we are the only nation that takes individual pride in our national emblem in such a manner. Especially post 9/11, it seems that everyone (sans JW) has a flag on their house or car. Personally, I appreciate the sentiment... sure is nicer than seeing OTHER flags flown instead of ours.

P.S. There's a debate going on here in the UK about whether or not the Union Jack (our flag) could accommodate the Welsh dragon.

I couldn't resist doing some research on this. I can see the difficulty of adding a dragon to the Union Jack. I'm very interested how it turns out, keep us up to date on it if you can. Thanks.

I fly the flag on all appropriate days. I don't leave it up every day because that would mean having to take it down every night. I notice a lot of people flying the flag and leaving it up at night or letting it get rained on. Technically, this is disrespectful. When I fly it, I make sure that it is treated properly. Up at dawn, down at sunset, and it doesn't touch the ground. Where I work, we fly the USA flag and the Union Jack because our company is headquartered in the UK. We have the same procedure at work. Flags up at dawn, down at sunset. We have a lot of people around Atlanta who fly the Mexican flag. My wife is from Trinidad, and she has a little T&T flag. Not sure where she's put it since we moved. She likes to irritate people, so she put the St. Andrew's Cross (rebel flag) on her front bumper and an American flag on the rear. I have an American flag decal in my rear window of the car. That's about it. :)

OR, the flag must be well lit at night.

My flag is mounted at my front door, it's not a post with the ropes that allow it to move up and down. Not sure if the rules apply to mine, I will check to be sure.

Why? Wasn't Wales annexed in the 1200's under Edward I becoming English property in the 1500's? I also thought the Union Flag was made up for King James to show the uniting of England and Scotland (at least on ships) later adding the cross of Saint Patrick to show, well, union.

This thread warms my heart...... it really does. I am impressed that any former USA JW (excluding myself, of course) has taken the time to learn the proper protocols with regard to our National Ensign. Good job folks! *BIG smile*
