Stolen Minds - Should We Fight Harder For Freedom?

I just had a lovely weekend visiting with non-JW family and seeing how beautiful and intelligent my 10year old niece has become. Watching her taking part in lots of activities - singing in a choir and playing the trombone I was so proud of her and very glad that she isn't burdened and opppressed by the rules of the WT. How rewarding it is to see children exploring all their potential and being able to express themselves without fear of being thought "worldly" or bad association. My heart aches for all the children born into the JW's that don't have this freedom and whose young minds are indoctrinated and stifled by the WT cult.

How long will this be allowed to go on? The WT destroy lives in so many different ways and tear the hearts out of people, do posters think we should be actively doing more to bring about their downfall and if so, how would it be possible?

    Maddie,

I, always, compare our little guy, Levi, now six, to our three children (youngest, 24) and, in seeing Levi celebrate birthdays, Christmas, etc: see the joy and freedom....

I could just weep for my kids....alll the loss.....it is so damningly tragic.

All I can do is admit to being the causation of co-operating with this ignorance, apologize, and encourage others to a different course....

You mentioned doing more: I started a web site, spent quite a bit of money and time, had it up and going three years or so.....very little response....maybe thirty people. I met a few through that site that made the expense more than worth while. I think supporitng boards like this and encouraging people is the best route. Also, if one can afford it....I can not....the apostate-fests must be great. Also, networking and support a couple of ministries....I like BRCI and route people there.

And, being happy and progressing....that is the best Anti-JW path a person can take.

    Then, SHARE THE JOY!!!

    Hang tough,

    Good post...thank you,

    Yours in this Journey,

    V

Yes we should, to the extent possible with each, do what we can to fight against oppressive cults like the WTS.

I use the local media, with letters to the editor, when news items are pertinent. I try to refrain from bitter words, and just make logical appeal to the dangers.

Jeff writes the best letters! Yes, send out letters, call in to radio shows when applicable, write news shows asking for more stories like the Brian Williams NBC story and thank them. You can also tell a few people about the jw's, the story will be repeated many times because the stories are so unbelievable and shocking. You could also deliver to paperboxes every once & awhile some anti jw literature or leave in restrooms, coffee shops, etc..... Get the word out in whatever way suits you. Personally it usually takes a story here or elsewhere that really saddens me or pisses me off and I go deliver anti witness literature. Doesn't take much time and is something tangible a person can do.

Carla - Thank you for the tips. I think I would like to do more actively in the ways you suggested. It would make me feel like I was doing something positive to warn people about the cult and also hopefully help free those that are still trapped in it.

Jeff - I am trying to compose a letter now to send to a newspaper

Lisa, Vernon, Justhuman - Thank you for your posts
