I always found it so strange (at least till I started posting here) that when my hubby told his parents about me the first thing he was instructed to do was speak to the elders. I thought to myself, shouldn't he be speaking to his parents.

I was doubly hard because when he told them about me, we were living together! I hate that organization. They tear everything up that comes onto their path.

Bull*&^ is the right word 4mylove.

Like your family, that religion is tearing apart my family, it makes itself the basis for every relationship one can have, and any relationship built around a middle man is doomed it failure. Disfellowshipping looms for me and my sister, and as it draws closer, the tiny thread that's holding us to our family gets ever smaller.

Bull*&^ indeed. I despise that religion.

This breaking up of JW families or even trying to get you away from your non-JW family with the lie that they are your 'new family' is one of the biggest reasons I hate this religion.

I am now trying to mend the fences I broke down all those years ago.

no, you're all wrong. its us who tear up families, because we dont believe in the lies of the society anymore which mysteriously are truths of the one true religion. we spread our satanic ideas from which our familymembers and friends needs to be protected from! its so important! its their everlasting lifes!!!!! the jw religion does not split anything up, its a religion of love and unity! the ones that rebel against "gods" laws are the one who destroy everything!!

i wanna puke. its like a criminal points a gun at you wanting all your money and you wont give him and get shot. and when the police arrives the criminal is released free of charge, because it was YOUR fault. you didnt give him the money!

They sure do bust up families. They bust up relationships before they have a chance to form. They turn people against their families if the family will not come into the cult (how many times has a relative visit been showcased where it got fxxxed up because it was time for the boasting session (it always is) and the relatives didn't want it.) They are always hounding people to bring their children in, no matter what it takes, as well as spouse and relatives.

Then the balloon comes due. One of them sees through the lies or cannot live the strict life that the Tower demands. From there, the person who is "errant" is cut off from everyone else. Children have been put out before 18 for this. Relatives are disowned when they get disfellowshipped or disassociate themselves (why else do they fade slowly). Child abuse, often beatings after boasting sessions where they could not sit still for two or more hours, are common. This puts unnecessary strain on the children. I saw one child that was labeled "bad" because he could not behave himself (i.e., standing still and saying what was supposed to have been said) for 4 or 5 hours of field circus. This, too, ruins families.
