I got a notice in the mail today taht I am eligible to receive a court-approved refund of fees charged to my eligible credit/debit card. The fees were based on foreign transactions, including both purchases and ATM withdrawals from Feb 1996 to November 2006. The only places I traveled out of the country during that time was in Canada around 1999 and when I went to Denmark, Sweden and London last year.

Did anybody else who has Visa, MasterCard and or Diners Club and travel much receive one of these notices in the mail? The website explains more www.ccfsettlement.com

class action lawsuits 99% of the time make money for the lawyers and dribble down minimal compensation for the people they are so called representing. if you get $20 compensation, i'd be surprised.

getting a notice in the mail about it and never hearing about it from the lawyers in any other way is a huge sign of it just being another whacked justice system scam filling the pockets of schister lawyers.

i never sign or accept any of those settlements when they come in the mail because i don't want to contribute to what's mostly a legal scam....there are law offices who just seek out ways to file class action lawsuits to make millions, sometimes on a minor discrepancy in wording on a legal form....sometimes putting entire companies out of business (with employees) who really didn't deserve it.

oh, but let me make a ps: credit card companies are scams in themselves with their advertising and we get constant offers to put cash right into our bank account today because of our good credit, while the small print shows 25% interest rates. i still don't support class action law suits, but i also don't support credit card companies....but i'm cynical of most big business.

I got $4.96 out of a credit card class action suit. I remember that it was a fixed APR, and the company sold, and changed the name, and raised the interest. I called about it, when I received my bill, and saw a huge rise in interest. I transferred the balance right away. Arguing did no good. My credit was perfect, had never been late.
When I got the letter and check, I realized that I wasn't the only one, who got screwed. Somebody else, is the one, who took it steps further. I thought I was a little fish, in a big pond.
I didn't get all of my interest back, but at least it showed the company that they couldn't get away with doing business like that. Just think of all the people who couldn't transfer their balance.

    I got the notice also.

I Travel out of the country a few times over the last 10 years, I'm just not sure how much I actually spent.

There is a easy way to claim your refund if your spending was under $2500.

This would automatically give you a refund of $25.

I know I spend more than $2500, but proving it at this point might be difficult.

It doesn't seem like a scam, but you never know.

    I would proceed with caution.

I received a notice, too, and it looked legitimate to me. I filed for the $25 instant refund. The website where I filed didn't ask me for anything but the refund ID number on the notice.
