    What an ordeal!

I posted a few weeks ago about my new job. Just before orientation, my boss calls and says, "oh, you have to provide proof of your shot records by tomorrow"...YIKES.

So I call my old schools (remember, I haven't been in school for over 15 years) seeing if they have any records. I had to call 7 different schools since we (my parents) moved so much. One school had only a few records but wasn't enough for the health department.

I went to the health department but they said they didn't have records either...ok, come on, I'm trying to get a job to make me and the kids life better. I ended up having to pay $350 to get all of my shots redone. Thankfully, my Dr. got me in and is letting me to make payments since I don't have insurance.

So that made it yes, I can work for them now..

Got another call saying "sorry, but childcare is going to cost you $293 a week even with company discount...demanded by the state under another "rule"". I can't work for THAT much childcare cost...I'll only be making around $280!!! I'd be PAYING my employer $13 to work...why the *@** would I do that???

So, called family services about my application and they said "sorry, it will take 30 days"...so, looked like I wasn't going to be able to take the job after all. I decided to drive (40 mins) to the Job and family Services and request to speak with my case worker. I explained what was happening.

She called my employer (I didn't know why) and said "oh, just to let you know, yes she is approved"...hmmm, "I'm approved for title 20 (assistance for childcare) this quickly...but what about the 30 days?" I asked. She told me that she has seen how hard I've been working to get this job and that there would be no way I could take it so she was expediting things so I can take it.

    A BIG PHEW!!!

    So I got it for sure...I , ummmm, think....LOL

Heehee, it was interesting and I've learned one good thing...I'm putting all my shot records/kids records and other stuff in a safe deposit box. I had no clue I was going to have a difficult time getting proof of shot records. I thought the health department had that information.

Hey froggie - I am really proud of you. Most people would have given up and you kept plugging away and overcoming whatever obstacle came up! Good on you!
