We all know Samson's superhuman powers went away when his long hair got cut (as I understand it, he followed a God-approved faction that disallowed his cutting his hair).
We all know Paul told us how unnatural it is for a man to have long hair ("nature itself" tells us).
Did God change his mind? What should a male do with his hair - cut it short, or wear it long?
Apparently God had to fight wars to keep belief in him going back in the Old Testament days.
After belief in the "God of Israel" went international and believers were more spread out, they couldn't war as much. They had to market themselves better. Hence, the new "clean" look of representatives of God.
God just got a better marketing plan in the New Testament.
If God wanted us to have short hair he would have invented scissors.
Jews and Muslims follow the OT god, and they think we should have beards too, so it's looking like 2 to 1 odds in favour of growing hair.
