Bad Expensive Appliances.....

Let me tell you, Bosch from Germany is out! I have a very high end oven that cost us $1200.00 (floor model ) originally $1600.00 two years ago, its also a convection oven.

While I was broiling some garlic bread on "Low" tonight a portion of the top element decided to catch fire and then quit working. I keep my oven very clean. There is going to be hell to pay at Lowes or anywhere else I can make a stink.

Sometimes the basics are a much better buy....

This is great just before I start cooking for Christmas. Keep it mind if you are purchasing new appliances.

LG - I bought a very expensive LG dishwasher - terrible thing wouldn't work very well - I returned it and bought a $350 cheapie which was better made and better organized than the LG and works beautifully.

These aren't major appliances but they pissed me off anyway.

    • Krups rice cooker. The plastic chamber to catch condensation broke before I even used the thing, just snapping it into place. The measurements in the enclosed recipe book are all wrong too.
    • Braun electric razor with cleaner. Cost me nearly $300. The foil broke the first day, and cost me $55 to replace. 6 months later the head would no longer stay on the razor while shaving. The motor was good though. I had to hurl it against the concrete floor 4 times before it finally stopped.

I'll be buying a new stove this spring. Not sure if I'll get gas or electric. I hope I have better luck with that.

The Kenmore Elite bottom-freezer refrigerator with ice and water through the door. Damn thing was the most expensive refrigerator Sears had. Cost us around $3,000.00. It freezes the meats and vegetables in the storage drawers no matter what temperature you set the refrigerator or freezer to. I've wasted way too much of my time off from work to have Sears repair this gynormous hunk of feces. Come to find out that virtually everbody who purchased one of these damn things is having the same problem. I give up. I now store the veggies in the 20 year old refrigerator that was left out in the garage by the previous owner of the house. It works fine.

    re,

Thanks for the tip, I was considering a Bosch dishwasher from them. I'm glad I didn't do it.

There is going to be hell to pay at Lowes or anywhere else I can make a stink.

How does that make anything better?

Will the person on the receiving end of your "stink" be the person responsible for the malfunction of your appliance?

    Just something to think about.

I wish you success in resolving your problem, r.

Nvr....just wanted to let you know I was very nice on the phone to Lowes, although they refused to help me. I was just having a rant or as my mom calls it "ridiing a broom"

Bosch was worse and denied any liability. After I went on line, found several complaints for the same exact thing that happened to me. One model later they guaranteed their elements for 5 years. My model only 12 months....apparently there was quite a problem.

There were many complaints about most of their appliances, and also learned they own Thermadore.

JK666....I also have Bosch dishwasher....about $800.00 ...an absolute no no. Every single adjustable rack has come off on the lower portion, so I have nothing to hold up the dishes.....have to lay them flat and do load after load. What a joke. I did buy an extended warranty on this appliance so will be calling to have all the racks put back in.

It seems Expensive Appliances don't make a difference. About eight years ago I purchased a Refrigerator, a Stove and a Dishwasher. All were the most expensive in the line. I always believed you get what you pay for. All three of these applilances have problems. The Ice Maker on the refrigerator broke about six years ago. About two years ago the burners on the stove began to overheat. The basket in the Dishwasher rusted away.

I've decided in the future, I wil not buy anything new. What's the use?
