A Little Eavesdropping

I was in a public area when out of the corner of my eye I saw a 30ish woman approach an elderly woman. I caught the words..problems...war..where can we turn to which set off my DUB ALERT™.

Sure enough out came the magazines and the hard sell. What was interesting was the older woman said.. "Hold on I want to tell you something. I am Disfellowshiped"

To me in my Dub Days™ that would have been a conversation ender. The younger woman must have been a pioneer (or nosey) because she asked about the older lady's situation.

It seems that both her and her husband had come into contact with the witlesses in Quebec in the late 50's or early 60's. She described her husband as a simple, hard working God fearing man who just wanted to do what was "Right" They were both baptised around the same time. At a later time the husband began to look at some of the doctrines and beliefs a little closer. Although he was a self confessed simple man he could not reconcile some of the teachings of the WT with the Bible. He confided in the Elders or whom ever at the time.(Don't think they were called elders then) He told them he couldn't believe everything they taught and he couldn't go door to door and try to convert someone else to those teachings. The bottom line was they DF'ed him. His wife lost heart and was also DF'ed for following him is his "Apostate Ways" Since then the couple had lived a simple life. They tried to live a clean and moral life and help their neighbours with problems. Donate to charity. A simple version of Christianity. Her husband then passed away.

The younger woman with only a seconds pause went right back to the original presentation with the added idea that the elder woman could still come back and be approved by God the WT

I don't think she really heard or cared about a single thing that the elder woman said. It is after all only about the hours and the placements...Is it not.. It made me sick to hear.

I had a couple of JW brothers™ come by a few months ago. They had the huge fake smiles pasted on their faces. I told them I was an apostate, and that I DA'd because of the child abuse scandal, and that an ex family member was a victim of such. They listened to every word I said, nodding, their heads bobbing up and down like pigeons while the stupid grins never left their faces. I wondered if they heard a single word I said. I shut the door before they could offer me the magazines.
