How big of a deal is Christmas to you?

It's Christmas eve and I feel like any other day of the year. I might drink a beer or two or might go to bed at 9pm like any other day.

To me, the days that lead up to Christmas is way more exciting than the actual day.

Maybe I feel this way because I'm alone....

Sorry to hear you are alone tonight. Christmas isn't much fun without having people to share it with. Our family doesn't make a big deal over Christmas. Our budget for Christmas is small, under $150, but we agree it should be that way. Next year, I expect Christmas will have just as tight of a budget, perhaps more things will be made than bought.

It's not a big deal for me. I'm happy to not be required to not celebrate it, but I don't really have any desire to celebrate it. If someone gives me a Christmas greeting, I'll reciprocate, but that's about it.

    Hey JH,

Right now its not a big deal. Just enjoying some wine, listening to carols (i think they are very nice and i've always liked them) and making my list for the new year. However, next year I plan to have networked enough to host a christmas/winter dinner.

It's a bit depressing for me this year because my JW mom died last year 4 days after Christmas, and as a result I've gone through a lot of upheaval over the last year. I went to my old church tonight for the midnight mass and met some old friends, which was nice. I'll be getting together with them on New Years eve. I'll be seeing my sisters - one on boxing day and the other on New Years day. I'll be spending Christmas day alone, and I'll be making a dinner for myself. I'm making my homemade chicken soup, a capon, cornbread dressing, cranberry sauce, garlic/sour cream mashed potatos, maple cinamon glazed carrots, and a hazelnut cake. I'll be having my dinner alone, so I'll have leftovers for the entire week.

In some ways I feel lonely, but I also enjoy the time I have to rest and reflect.

it is not a big deal to me. I am a fader, so I have to avoid celebrating Christmas. If I am ousted, I would probably celebrate the holidays, but I am not missing anything since I have never celebrated Christmas. I am just used to it.
