"Judge John Jones copied verbatim or virtually verbatim 90.9% of his 6,004-word section on whether intelligent design is science from the ACLU's proposed 'Findings of Fact and Conclusions of Law' submitted to him nearly a month before his ruling," said Dr. John West, Vice President for Public Policy and Legal Affairs at Discovery Institute's Center for Science and Culture.

Hoob,
The ACLU is for "civil liberties". Heck they've even aided Jehovah's Witnesses - here's an example: http://epic.org/free_speech/watchtower.html
If the ACLU sees the intrusion of ID as anti-freedom (by favoring one religious view over science), I'm inclined to agree.

It might interest you to know that Judge Jones is a staunch Republican and was a George Bush appointee. He and his family are also Christians. Nevertheless, he was able to see, by the preponderance of the evidence, that "Intelligent Design" is just religion in disguise and has no place in the science classroom.
