Someone made a comment to one of the songs I posted in French! Well, I can't read French!

    Here's the comment:

Je dois être un des seuls français à connaître et à apprécier l'oeuvre d'Alexander... que d'émotions. La 1ere fois que j'ai entendu cette voix il y a + de 20 ans déjà j'ai senti que je ne pourrai plus m'en passer. Quel pied !!!!

    Help! Thanks!

"I must be the only French to know and appreciate Alexander's work...so many feelings. The first time I heard this voice more than 20 years ago, I felt I would never be able to go without."

Now..."quel pied" would mean "what an asshole" to me. But perhaps it was meant in a more loving way:-)

"pied " can be used not only to mean one's footing, but also in the sense of being sure of one's place.

Expressions of quality and depth also use it.

So "what depth", "such assurance" ?? it cant be literally translated, but think of Sinatra singing "I did it My Way".

    Quel pied !!!! : a sheer enjoyment !!

(After "prendre son pied", to hold one's foot, a crude french modern slang expression meaning "enjoy sexual pleasure")
