Genesis 49: 3 and 4?

  Anyone able to give any insight on this scripture. I havent read the entire bible yet, but working my way through it when i found this scripture. The chapter describes how Jacob / Israel gathers all 12 of his sons and then in turn commands and blesses each one.

  But vs 4 has me scratching my head. Is there anywhere else in the bible that explains how Reuben 'defiled it', after going up to his fathers bed. I take from this that Reuben slept with one of his fathers wives? Any views on this scripture?

  I believe the answer is found in Genesis 49:127, where it says, "Reuben's mom has got it goin on."

  Reuben did not sleep with his mother. It was his fathers concubine.

  What a fine family tradition the Bible portrays.
