His wife Frieda was a friend of my parents. She was an annointed missionary and I remember her as a mean old lady. My mom would often say how much she hated her "evil slave" ex.
Back in his day, William Schnell was the top apostate! The devil himself!

When I first became a witness, I remember hearing about the "apostate" Schnell and that he'd written a book against the Witnesses. I though, "How horrible!" Now I wish I'd read it--would have saved me decades of anguish.
