Definately credible. The Guardian is a reputable broadsheet.
This story does not seem that shocking to me. There were lots of people in the establishment on both sides of the Atlantic that were sympathetic to Nazi Germany right up to the start of the Second World War.

Before the nazis were demonised, they were considered a political party, like any other. They were good for business, both in germany and abroad. Hence, so much business involvement w nazi germany.

Very credible.
Even some royals had links in the early days of the nazi party.
I watched a documentary the other day that showed how churchills cousin was one of hitlers mistresses!
