Another failed date -- 1928?

From online Investigator Magazine No. 51

JW prophecies are known to have failed for many other dates.

    These include 1878, 1881, 1906/1907, 1912, 1914, 1915, 1918, 1920, 1924, 1925, 1928 , 1930s, 1935/1936, 1942,1940s, 1970s.

    Then, a different source:
TIME magazine March 31, 1930: "...An erroneous prophecy that the year 1928 would provide a cataclysm -- "Nations will battle; the dead will be dung on the earth -- upset considerably the Bible Students' calculations, but the major tenets of their belief are as yet unshaken."

Other than those references, I haven't been able to find anything verifiable -- no WT scans, no source month / year.

Anyone else find anything of substance?

Maybe a prediction by another Bible Student group than Rutherford's? Or an error, the press getting 1925 wrong as 1928?

    Thanks, Leolaia.

Yes, that issue of TIME may have been the very reason for Investigator's claim. I agree that TIME's reference must've been a mistake. It was 1930 and so fresh on the heels of the failed 1925 resurrection.

Surprising, actually, that a mainstream journal (TIME, though only 7 years old at the moment) would make such a blunder.

I believe Penton speaks about 1928 in his history of JW's. If memory serves me correctly they briefly predicted 28 to be a year of great tribulation. This was right after 25 if my memory is correct.
