Eve, 1975 and time

Ok, this is a bit off the cuff. And it was inspired by a comment made by someone about Cain.

If Adam was 130 when Seth was born, then we know that Eve was not 130 at that time. She was younger. Remember in 1975, where we were told that there might only have been a matter of months, not weeks from the time of Adam's actual creation till Eve's---and that the end of the sixth creative day wouldn't be until she had been created from Adam? And that was their excuse for 1975 being a wash. . .well, there is an outer limit to that creative day. I am not remembering all that they said, but if Adam was 130 at the time SETH was born, and Cain and Abel were apparently adults at the time of Abel's death, then doesn't that give them a outer limit of that 6th creative day-that would be about 70 years from now or so? I can't remember all the exact wording they used to give them the excuse for '75 failing (or not being guaranteed) but we do know that Adam had at least 3 children by the age of 130, and one of the surviving ones was an adult. Which means that Eve had been created within a time frame to allow for all that.

Of course, by 2075 or so, the WT will have shoved it under the rug likely, or found some new eschatological issues to get excited about. Or they may count on people being as stupid then as they are now, and resurrect the entire speculation themselves, hoping to not get sucked into the mire of their own stupid teaching.

Remember what Barnum said-"You can fool some of the people all of the time"

(New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures, WTBTS 1984 Revision, Genesis 5:3 3) And Adam lived on for a hundred and thirty years. Then he became father to a son in his likeness, in his image, and called his name Seth.

(Insight on the Scriptures, WTBTS 1988 Vol. 2, p. 899) Seth
The son of Adam and Eve born when Adam was 130 years old. Eve named him Seth . . .

(Aid to Bible Understanding, WTBTS, 1971 ed. p.538) EVE
At the age of 130 another son was born to her. Eve called his name Seth, . . .

It's still arguing about fictional characters. Archeology shows that humans have been around way before Adam's supposed creation in 4026 BC.

By 2075, the Watchtower, if it still exists, will be saying that Genesis, the creation account and the flood are figurative and man has existed for more than 6000 years. There is too much accumulating evidence easily accessible to people that prove Genesis can not be taken literally. In 70 years I cannot see any but the most insular fundamentalists taking it literally.

You make a good point that there is a limit to how long after Adam Eve was created. However JWs do not resort to reason. In 1955 the Watchtower had already stated that we could not guess the end because we did not know when Eve was created. That did not stop them.

The Watchtower1955 February 1 p.95 specifically said as much: "The very fact that, as part of Jehovah's secret, no one today is able to find out how much time Adam and later Eve lived during the closing days of the sixth creative period, so no one can now determine when six thousand years of Jehovah's present rest day come to an end."

During the 1975 hype it began being stated that Adam and Eve were created in the same year, speaking of "the year of Adam and Eve's creation in 4026 B.C.E." (Watchtower1968 May 1 p.271)

Immediately following the failure of 1975 the Watchtower reverted to their original position. "But that great rest day did not begin immediately after Adam's creation. Other events took place after Adam's creation but before the close of the sixth creative day. One of these is of great importance to all of us. That is the creation of the first woman, Eve." Watchtower1976 July 15 p.436

I just figured that the outer limit of their 1975 teaching has to be limited by the 130 years that we know was the age of Adam at the birth of Seth. So, obviously Eve was not born AFTER then, nor were Cain and Abel children (this will be said the closer they get to a date that would be compatible, and they will get younger and younger as the 130 years runs out)

In any case, the fictional character thing-Yup, but I am dealing with them as they are, not as they SHOULD be:) The WT is very literal about the Bible-until they want to be figurative about it. They LIVE for chronology, even as they deny their devotion to the subject. It is the very basis of their entire faith. NOT Christ. The Bible is merely a tool for them to use to get their adherents enslaved.

I just thought it was interesting, as to this day I see JWs speak in various places, defending the WT teaching with the idea that no one knows how long Adam was alone. We know that it was far less that 130 years. After 110 or so-they are SOL. Which assumes they will survive until my 7 y.o. reaches drinking age. I rather think they will go the way of the Shakers or WWCOG (more likely)

By 2075 no one will care what The Watchtower said about 1975 or when Eve was born, just as today no one cares how old any of the "anointed" were in 1914.
